PINE BLUFF, Ark. – The Prairie View A&M softball team fell to University of Arkansas Pine Bluff 5-2, before claiming a 4-3 win Saturday in Southwestern Athletic action.
GAME 1
UAPB 5, PVAMU 2
The Lady Panthers scored two runs on four hits in the top of the first inning.
Shelby Williams and
Alexis Freeman singled to begin the game to put two runners on base.
Alyssa Garcia doubled to center field scoring S. Williams from second. Kylar Ward Flowers singled to right field, allowing Freeman to cross home plate to make the score 2-0.
Arkansas Pine Bluff would add runs in the first, third, and fourth innings. PVAMU was unable to score again after the first inning, giving the Lady Golden Lions the win.
GAME 2
PVAMU 4, UAPB 3
Laurisa Hernandez hit a RBI double in the first inning to put the Lady Panthers on the board first. Hernandez also hit a RBI triple in the third inning extending the lead 2-0.
In the fifth inning the Lady Panther's
Gabrielle Fonseca hit a RBI double, before UAPB posted three runs in the fifth to tie the game. Due to some costly errors by the Lady Lions, one allowed Williams to reach base, and the other leading to her scoring to edge by UAPB to earn the win.
PVAMU softball will return to action when they host Texas Southern for a three game series, beginning on Friday, April 27 with a 3 p.m. first pitch.
