The Prairie View A&M baseball team rallied to defeat Grambling 8-7 Sunday afternoon at Tankersley Field.

The Panthers (8-21 overall, 5-10 SWAC) won the final two games of the weekend over the SWAC Western Division leading Tigers (16-16, 9-6).

After Grambling took a 7-6 lead in the seventh, the Panthers rallied with two runs in the eighth.
Tyler Gordon walked to lead off the inning, and advanced to second on a wild pitch. With one out,
Daniel Lingua was intentionally walked before
Tracy Warren singled to load the bases. With two outs, Gordon scored on a wild pitch to tie the game at 7-7.
Steven Williams then beat out an infield single, scoring Lingua with the winning run.

Cristian Cooper (1-1) got the win in relief, pitching the final two innings of hitless, scoreless relief, walking three and striking out three. After getting the first two outs in the ninth and a walk, Cooper struck out Nick Wheeler for the final out.

Calvin Rucker,
Andrew Garcia, and
Xavier Jefferson each had two hits for the Panthers. Lingua scored three times, and Williams and Rucker each had two RBI.

Grambling led 3-1 in the third before the Panthers tied the score in the home half of the third. Lingua walked to lead off the inning, and then stole second. Rucker doubled down the left field line to score Lingua. After Rucker advanced to third on a groundout, Williams' sacrifice fly scored Rucker to tie the score a 3-3.

Prairie View A&M took the lead in the fourth. Jefferson led off with a triple to right center, and scored on a single by Gordon to right field. Gordon then stole second, and with one out, advanced to third on a wild pitch. Lingua's single to right field gave the Panthers a 5-3 lead.

PVAMU added a run in the sixth on a two-out single by Rucker, scoring Lingua.

The Panthers return to action Tuesday at Incarnate Word at 3 p.m.
