PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – The Prairie View A&M baseball team fell to University of Arkansas Pine Bluff 6-2 in 10 innings in the finale of the three game series of SWAC action at Tankersley Field.
The Panthers was first to get on the board, with one run courtesy of one hit in the bottom of the fourth. .
Daniel Lingua was hit by a pitch to reach first base. Lingua advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt from
Ezekiel Bear to get in scoring position.
Corbin Jamison singled to bring Lingua home to make the score 1-0.
The score remained scoreless through five innings, before UAPB responded in the sixth scoring one run in the top half of the inning. Both
Darrien Williams and UAPB pitcher Peyton Burks continued to duel through nine innings with each pitcher striking out at least five batters.
The Panthers had opportunities to score, leaving five base runners stranded in the final four innings of regulation, but were unable to capitalize. At the end of nine innings the game was all knotted up at 1-1.
In the top half of the 10th, errors proved to be the Purple and Gold's undoing as three errors were the catalyst for a five run inning giving Arkansas Pine Bluff a 6-1 lead. The Panthers attempted a rally, scoring one run in the bottom of the 10th, but ultimately fell short.
The PVAMU baseball team will return to the diamond for action in Waco, Texas to take on Baylor on Tuesday May 8th. First pitch is set for 6:30 pm.
