The Prairie View A&M women's basketball team fell to Texas Southern University 52-44 on Saturday in the Baby Dome.

The Lady Panthers got off to a slow start in the first quarter, trailing 9-2 at the 4:48 mark. They went into the second quarter trailing 15-4.

Things began to pick up for PVAMU in the second quarter, starting off with a made jumper by senior forward
La'Neique Nealey to bring the deficit down 16-8. Prairie View closed the quarter trailing 27-17 on a made jumper from senior center
Artavia Ford with 0:19 left in the half.

The team began to slowly chip away at the Tiger's lead in the third quarter. After trailing by as many as 16 points, the Lady Panthers went into the fourth quarter down 39-24.

Dobbins quickly scored the first basket of the fourth quarter with 9:53 left in the period. Following, was a layup from Ford at the 8:38 mark, bringing the score down 41-28.

A made three point shot from senior guard
Chelsea Tieuel in the closing minute of the quarter put PVAMU in arms reach, but the team ultimately fell 52-44.

Dobbins led the team with 12 points and four rebounds. Ford followed behind with ten points, three rebounds, and three blocks. Junior guard
Dominique Newman also contributed with seven points.

The Panthers will continue home play as they face Jackson State University on Saturday, Jan. 19 at 3 pm in the Baby Dome.
