The SWAC-leading Prairie View A&M men's basketball team will open a two-game road trip with a Saturday game at Mississippi Valley St.

It's the second game of an afternoon doubleheader in Itta Bena, Miss. that begins with the women's game between the two schools at 2 p.m. (PVAMU 6-9 overall, 3-2 SWAC; MVSU 3-13, 2-3). The PVAMU Sports Network broadcast begins with Panthers Countdown To Tipoff at 1:45 p.m. at pvpanthers.com/women. The men's game between Prairie View A&M (7-11, 5-0) and Miss. Valley St. (3-16 1-4) is set to tip at 4:30 p.m. at pvpanthers.com/men.
PVAMU is the SWAC's lone unbeaten team in both men's and women's play.

Both Prairie View A&M basketball teams will conclude the two-game trip with a Monday night doubleheader at Arkansas-Pine Bluff beginning at 5:30 p.m., with the radio broadcast available beginning at 5:15 p.m. on the PVAMU Sports Network.

Prairie View A&M has won six straight games, including five straight in league play, the longest streak in the
Byron Smith era. The overall winning streak is the longest since 2014-15, when PVAMU won seven straight games all in conference play between Feb. 7-Mar. 2, 2015 (58-55 at Texas Southern 2/7/15; 61-55 at Jackson St. 61-55 2/14/15; 95-44 at Grambling 2/16/15; 84-74 vs. Miss. Valley St. 2/21/15; 79-58 vs. UAPB 2/23/15; 75-72 at Alabama A&M 2/28/15; 67-65 at Alabama St. 3/2/15).

This past Monday, the Panthers led for the final 38+ minutes and led by a season-high of 31 points in an 83-66 win over Grambling, ending a four-game losing streak to the Tigers.
Gary Blackston led four players in double figures with a game-high 21 points and a team-high eight rebounds.
Dennis Jones scored a season-high 16 points, and
Taishaun Johnson and
Devonte Patterson each scored 13 points.

PVAMU led 48-19 at halftime, the most points scored in a half by the Panthers this season and the fewest points allowed in a half by the Panthers this season.

MVSU has a non-conference win over Southeastern (69-59) and a SWAC win over Alabama A&M (72-63) among its victories this season. Jordan Evans and Dante Scott each led the team in scoring (both averaging 11.7 ppg/t-14th SWAC). Emmanuel Ejeh leads MVSU in rebounds (6.6/6th SWAC).
