PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – In a weekend that could go a long way in determining tournament seeding, the Prairie View A&M soccer team heads east to take on Alabama A&M and Alabama State in a pair of Southwestern Athletic Conference matches.
First touch versus the Lady Bulldogs is set for 3 p.m. on Friday, and the Lady Panthers will face Alabama State at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
Prairie View A&M (5-7, 4-1 SWAC) currently sits No. 3 in the regular season standings, a half-game behind current No. 2 seed Alabama A&M (5-1 SWAC) and a half-game ahead of Alabama State (4-2).
The Lady Panthers head into the contest looking to build on a pair of wins over Jackson State and Southern. Senior forward

Quinn Josiah continues to have a stellar season between the pipes, having posted a pair of shutouts and 1.34 goals against average in 2019. With 36 saves on the season, Josiah has stopped 80 percent of shots faced.
While Prairie View A&M has won the past two meetings over Alabama A&M, the Lady Hornets have been a thorn in the Lady Panthers' side. Prairie View A&M has dropped five of the past six matches between the teams, including a 1-0 heartbreaker during the 2018 SWAC Soccer Tournament.

- Alabama A&M (7-6-1) is led by freshman standouts Makayla Rushing (team-high seven goals), D'Essence Burnett (six goals), Jameela Barrett (three assists) and Jada Ward (three assists) are both in the top three in the conference in assists with three apiece, Alabama A&M leads the SWAC in total points with 59 (3.93/game), while sitting second in goals (23) and fourth in assists (13) on the year. Goalkeeper Jodi Medina is third in the conference and top-25 in the nation in saves with 78 total saves.
- Isabella Beortegui leads Alabama State (5-10, 4-2 SWAC) with six goals, and reigning SWAC Offensive Player of the Week Mary Martin Mooneyham is second on the team with four goals and has a pair of game-winning goals from this past week. McKenna Wiscombe and Meaghan Fielding lead the team in assists with three each, while Janae Brown has a pair of assists. In goal, reigning SWAC Goalkeeper of the Week Hrafnhilder Hjaltalin has come on strong lately, having directed a pair of shutouts in the Lady Hornets' past three matches.
