PRAIRIE VIEW – The 2019 Southwestern Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Tournament champion Prairie View A&M heads west to the Bay Area to face off against No. 1 overall seed Stanford Friday evening during the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.
First touch is set for 9 p.m. CST (7 p.m. local) at Cagan Stadium in Stanford, Calif.
This marks the second tournament appearance for the Lady Panthers, the first coming in 2014. That season, Prairie View A&M fell 8-0 to Texas Tech.
Prairie View A&M (13-7) looks to continue adding to what has been a historic season, as the team set program records for most wins in a single season and most wins in conference play (9) on its way to the first soccer tournament championship in program history. The Lady Panthers have won 10 straight matches, with nine of them via shutout.
Prairie View A&M, which has allowed just one goal during its winning streak, secured the SWAC's automatic bid with a 1-0 win over Howard in the SWAC tournament finals. Senior forward
Diana Neff leads the team with eight goals and 16 points, while junior midfielder
Ashley Chala has added six goals and an assists.

Kalia Brown (three goals, two assists) and senior defender Gina Zavala de Rojas (team-high five assists) have also been impact players for the Lady Panthers offense this season.
This will be the first-ever meeting between the teams.
Scouting the Competition:
- Stanford (18-1) comes into the match fresh off its fifth Pac-12 championship after besting California 4-0. The Cardinal went 11-0-0 in league play and has won 13 straight matches.
- Led by junior Catarina Marcano's 23 goals and 18 assists, the Cardinal ranks No. 1 in the nation in goals (72), assists (76), total points (220), shots per game (25.42) and shots on goal per game (11.21). Along with Marcano -- the nation's leader in assists and total points (64) -- Madison Haley (10 goals, 10 assists) and Sophia Smith (10 goals, five assists) have also notched double-digit goal seasons.
