BOX SCORE COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Freshman forward
Kennedy Paul scored a career-high 15 points, but it wasn't enough as Prairie View A&M women's basketball fell 80-38 at No. 6 Texas A&M Wednesday evening.
Paul grabbed nine rebounds, also a career-best for the Baton Rouge, La. native. Paul has scored in double figures in back-to-back games.
Freshman
Diana Rosenthal added seven points, and senior
Bernesha Peters scored six points.
The Panthers (2-5) were hampered by a sluggish first quarter during which the freshman was the only player to get anything going against the Aggies, who were led by Chennedy Carter's 20 points on the night.
After Paul knocked down her second basket with 7:00 left in the first to bring the Panthers within 9-4, the Aggies scored 25 unanswered points over the ensuing 10 minutes of play to gain a sizable advantage. Despite a spurt over the midpoint of the second quarter, the early offensive struggles were too much for the Panthers to overcome as the game progressed.
Prairie View A&M shot 27.8 percent from the field (15-of-54) while the Aggies connected on 51.6 percent of its shots (33-of-64). The Panthers were out rebounded 49-26 and committed 25 turnovers.
