PRAIRIE VIEW – The Prairie View A&M football team announced its 2020 football schedule this week, featuring five home contests.
 

"Releasing the schedule early gives our alumni, family and friends an opportunity to plan accordingly for the 2020 football season," said Interim Athletic Director Alicia Pete.  "This gives everyone a chance to purchase season tickets early, as well as implementing tailgating plans.  We want all to mark their calendars and get ready for a great 2020 football season."

The Panthers open the season at home on Sept. 5 against arch-rival Texas Southern for the annual Labor Day Classic, a contest that gives the Panthers a chance for an early leg-up in the race to the SWAC Football Championship.

From there, the Panthers hit the road for a trio of contests. First, Prairie View A&M steps out of conference to take on Texas Christian (Sept. 12) and in the following week, the Panthers face off against Louisiana Tech (Sept. 19). Prairie View A&M then heads to Dallas for the State Fair Classic against Grambling State (Sept. 26).

After returning home for an Oct. 3 date versus Northwestern State to complete the out-of-conference portion of the slate, Prairie View A&M settles into league play with a road trek to Jackson State (Oct. 10). Then, Alabama A&M comes to town (Oct. 17) and following an open week, the Panthers head to Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Halloween.

The Panthers then turn their attention to perhaps the toughest portion of their slate with back-to-back home games versus Southern (Nov. 7) and Alcorn State (Nov. 14) before a Nov. 21 road game at Mississippi Valley State.

Should the Panthers advance to the SWAC Championship Game, they would play for the title on Dec. 5.
