PRAIRIE VIEW - Prairie View A&M men's basketball closes out the week with a road date at Loyola Marymount Friday evening. Tip-off is set for 9 PM CST (7 PM PST) at Gersten Pavilion.

The Panthers (3-6) will attempt to rebound from an 88-79 setback at Arizona State Wednesday evening. Senior Darius Williams led the way with a season-high 26 points, just two points shy of his career-high.

Senior and SWAC Preseason Player of the Year Devonte Patterson made his season debut with 12 points on a perfect 4-for-4 shooting.

Senior Gerard Andrus continues to lead the Panthers in scoring at 13.8 points per game, shooting 54.4 percent from the floor. Senior Chancellor Ellis is averaging 11.9 points per night while shooting 45 percent or better from the floor and from beyond the arc.

With his efforts Wednesday, Williams is also averaging double-figures in scoring at 10.1 points per game.

The Panthers are out-rebounding their opponents 36-35 per game and as a team are shooting 36.4 percent from three-point range while limiting opponents to a 32.4 percent clip in the same category.

Scouting the Competition:
- Loyola Marymount (4-5) is back in action after a near week-long layoff, having won two of its last three games. Most recently, the Lions knocked off SWAC foe Grambling State on Dec. 7.

- Junior swingman Eli Scott has been Mr. Do-Everything for the Lions, leading the team in scoring (15.5 PPG), rebounding (7.0 RPG) and assists (6.1 APG) while shooting 57.3 percent from the field. Ivan Alipiev is a solid second option for LMU as evidenced by his 12.3 points-per-game average.

- The magic number so far for the Lions has been 71. Loyola Marymount has limited opponents under 71 points in each of its four wins this season. However, LMU is 0-5 in games where opponents have scored 71 or more points.
