BOX SCORE NEWARK, N.J. - Prairie View A&M men's basketball team was unable to sustain a strong start during a 75-55 loss at Seton Hall Sunday afternoon in the Prudential Center.

Darius Williams led the Panthers (3-9) with 19 points. Senior
Gerard Andrus added 14 points and eight boards on a sterling 7-of-9 shooting. Senior
Devonte Patterson scored 11 points.
The Panthers shook off an early 11-4 deficit behind the efforts of Andrus and Patterson, who combined for 11 points during an 18-5 Panthers run that pushed them ahead 22-19 with just under three minutes left before intermission. Following a Williams' lay-up, Senior
Chancellor Ellis knocked down a three to give Prairie View A&M its largest lead of the day, a seven-point advantage with 1:10 left in the half.
After a pair of free throws by Seton Hall's Quincy McKnight cut the Panthers' lead to 27-22 going to the locker rooms, Prairie View A&M continued to stay ahead of the Pirates as the second half began despite McKnight's efforts on the other end.
After a McKnight lay-up made the game 31-28 Panthers with 17:46 left, a pair of baskets by Andrus pushed the team back ahead by seven, but Seton Hall managed a 10-2 run to gain a 38-37 lead with 13:08 left. The sides traded points -- and the lead -- momentarily, but following a lay-up from Williams that put Prairie View A&M up 43-42 with 11:35 remaining, the Pirates reeled off 12 unanswered points to surge ahead.
Patterson knocked down a jumper to cut the deficit to single-digits, but Seton Hall went on to close the game with a 21-10 scoring advantage, with the Panthers unable to rally.
Prairie View A&M shot 39.3 percent from the floor, making 22-of-56 of its tries. The Panthers limited Seton Hall to a paltry 30.8 percent clip (7-of-23) during the first half, but the Pirates shot nearly 58 percent from the floor in the second half. The Pirates held a plus-12 advantage from the foul line.
Four Pirate players scored in double-figures, led by McKnight's 25.
