BATON ROUGE, La. – The Prairie View A&M softball team dropped a 11-3 decision Sunday morning to conference foe Alabama State to close out play at the Chef Celeste Softball Challenge.

Alyssa Garcia, and Briana Grays, but only three runs came in.
All three of Prairie View A&M's runs came in the second frame. Garcia opened the inning on a free pass to first base after four balls thrown. She advanced to second on a wild pitch, before teammate
Laurisa Hernandez was also walked. Grays singled on a bunt to move both Garcia and Hernandez to their respective bases. Hernandez advance to third on the throw, while Garcia scored due to an error by the catcher to give PVAMU the first run of the game and take a 1-0 lead.
Grays took advantage of a passed ball advancing to second, before
Diavionne Dewalt was walked. With the bases full
Shelby Williams was also walked advancing all three base runners, scoring Hernandez to give the Lady Panthers a 2-0 lead over the Lady Hornets.
Brelyn Senegal was the fifth player to be walked advancing all base runners once again and scoring Grays for the third run of the inning (3-0).
Alabama State had runs in four of the six innings played before ending the game in the bottom of the sixth.
Kara Fucci threw 3.2 innings, allowing two hits and striking out one Lady Hornet.
The Lady Panthers will return to action when they visit Texas A&M Wednesday, Feb. 13 for a 4 p.m. first pitch at Davis Diamond in College Station, Texas.
