PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – The 2018 Southwestern Athletic Conference Champions will host SWAC team Jackson State for their home opener over the weekend.  The games are in support of lupus, and fans are asked to wear purple all weekend.
 
The first game is set for Friday, March 22 at 3 p.m.  Saturday will feature a double header beginning at noon and the second game is set to begin a 3 p.m.
 
The Lady Panthers are coming off of a weekend series sweep, defeating Alcorn State in Lorman, Miss.
 
Freshman Diavionne Dewalt leads Prairie View A&M in hitting averaging .481.  Dewalt in second in the conference and third in the conference with a .778 slugging percentage.
 
This week's pitcher of the week junior Crystal Castillo leads PV's hurlers.  Castillo is third in the conference with a 2.22 ERA.  Senior Ashley Higgins is fourth in the conference promoting a 2.68 ERA.  Castillo is also second in the conference with 47 strike outs.  She is also tied for first with seven wins under her belt.  Castillo has also earned two saves thus far this season.
 
Jackson State will enter the contest with a 7-20 overall record, and are 2-0 in conference play, after taking their opening league contest over Southern last weekend.
