PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas - In a mid-week contest the Prairie View A&M softball team fell to Stephen F. Austin 10-4 on Wednesday in the PVAMU Softball Stadium.
The Lady Jacks got on the board in both the first and second innings taking a 2-0 lead. SFA struck again adding three more runs to extend their lead to 5-0 in the top of the third.
The Lady Panthers posted runs of their own in the bottom half of the third frame. The scoring began with a double to right center by
Gabrielle Fonseca, before
Day'Zjah Pennywell dropped a single to left center field advancing Fonseca to third.
Destinee Williams doubled to left center as well, putting two runs on the board for the Lady Panthers (5-2).
Laurisa Hernandez came right behind Williams hitting her fifth home run of the season, making the score 5-4 in favor of the Lady Jacks.
PVAMU went scoreless in the final three innings, as Stephen F. Austin took the 10-4 win.
Williams and Hernandez had two RBI apiece on the day.
Next, the Lady Panthers will travel to Houston to play a three-game SWAC series against Texas Southern University. The series will begin on Friday, March 29 on ESPNU at 1 p.m.
