SWAC Softball Champions to Play on ESPNU Against Rival Host Texas Southern

HOUSTON - The Prairie View A&M Softball team will travel to Houston for a three game weekend series when they face rival Texas Southern.  
 
The game on Friday March 28 will be televised on ESPNU for a 1 p.m. first pitch.  There will be a double header on Saturday with the first game beginning at noon.
 
In mid-week action the Lady Panthers fell to Stephen F. Austin 10-4 at the PVAMU Softball Field, while Texas Southern hasn't played since last weekend in SWAC action against Alabama A&M.
 
Both teams are undefeated in conference play.  Prairie View A&M will enter Friday's contest with an 18-8 overall record and 6-0 in league play.  Texas Southern on the other hand has a 7-18 overall record and are 5-0 in the conference.
 
Freshman Diavionne Dewalt leads the Lady Panthers in hitting average of .410, while she is third in the Southwestern Conference.  The charge on the mound is led by junior Crystal Catillo, who is second in conference play averaging a 2.13 ERA.  She has nine wins on the season.
 
Marissa Padron leads Texas Southern in hitting averaging .393 per game.  She is sixth in the SWAC.  In the circle for the Lady Tigers is Naomi Reyes who is fifth in the conference with a 2.46 ERA.
 
The last time the two teams faced each other was during the 2018 SWAC Championship Tournament where the Lady Panthers took the game 4-3 en route to the 2018 Championship crown.
