PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – The Prairie View A&M baseball team dropped a 9-1 contest to Grambling State on Friday at Tankersley Field.
The Grambling Tigers struck both in the fifth with two runs and then again in the sixth inning with seven runs to take the game.
The Panthers were able to get on the board in their half of the eighth inning scoring one run. The inning was opened with a pitching change by the Tigers as well as some offensive changes for PVAMU. Evan McDonald singled to center field to be the first base runner for the Panthers. Xavier Jefferson subbed in also taking a base on a hit by pitch.
McDonald advanced to second, before Demarie Smith singled to the shortstop to load the bases for PVAMU. Tyler Gordon moved all batters around after being walked, in the same segment McDonald scored and, that would be the only run for the Panthers as Grambling took the game 9-1.
The Panthers will return to action in the second of the three game series against Grambling State at 2 p.m. Saturday at Tankersley field.
