PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas - The Prairie View A&M softball teamed finished out their three-game series against Southern winning the series 2-1 after dropping the final game 2-0 on Saturday at the PVAMU Softball Field.
One-two-three was the theme throughout the game. Southern struck in the top of the second to take a 1-0 lead. PVAMU sophomore
Kimberly Hernandez landed on base on a walk breaking the three up three down chain. Freshman catcher
Serena Antone singled to the short stop for the first hit for the Lady Panthers.
Southern posted a final run in the top of the fifth inning extending their lead 2-0, with PVAMU having an opportunity to score in the bottom fifth inning. Senior
Kiara Ross singled to left field and was able to advance to second base on the throw. Senior
Shelby Williams was also able to advance to third base and get in position to score. However, the team was unable to capitalize after a strikeout in the next play.
Both teams went scoreless in the final two innings.
Five players were able to connect for hits on the day. Senior
Ashley Higgins allowed only four hits on 28 batters faced.
Next, the Lady Panthers will face Houston Baptist in doubleheader action on Tuesday, April 16. First pitch will be at 1 p.m., at the PVAMU Softball Field.
