PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas - The Prairie View A&M softball team was able to force an extra inning, but it wasn't enough as the Lady Panthers fell 3-2 to the HBU Huskies Tuesday, afternoon.
Going scoreless through two inning Houston Baptist struck first putting two runs on the board in the top of the third inning.
The Lady Panthers answered with a pair of their own. A single by senior
Shelby Williams opened up the base running for PVAMU.  Another single by senior
Destinee Williams placed runners on first and second, before senior
Laurisa Hernandez doubled down to the right center scoring both D. Williams and S. Williams for the double RBI and 2-2 tie.
After both teams went scoreless in the final four innings of regulation, the game was pushed to eight innings. HBU posted one run in the top of the eighth, and PVAMU was unable to answer falling 3-2.
PVAMU outhit the Huskies 9-7 in the matchup. Hernandez led the team with 2 RBI. Senior Vanessa Castro struck out two, and only walked one on 32 batters faced.
The Lady Panthers will return to the road as they travel to face Grambling State in Grambling, La. The teams will play a three game series beginning on Friday, April 19, with a first pitch set for 3 p.m.
