PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – The 2019 Southwestern Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Champions will again host only two games with a sprinkle of some new opponents on the road.
The 13 non-conference schedule was announced by third-year 2019 SWAC Head Men's Basketball Coach of the Year Byron Smith this week. The schedule also includes the 18 SWAC games that will begin the early part of January 2020.
The Panthers will open with a game against Jarvis Christian on November 5, then they will get the regular season underway with a road contest at the University of Central Florida on November 9th.
PVAMU will take a quick trip to San Marcos, Texas when they face Texas State on November 12th .
Prairie View A&M will make an appearance in the Empire Classic benefiting the Wounded Warrior Project, making this a third appearance previously playing in 2008 and 2015. They will return back to Texas to face the Longhorns of the University of Texas on November the 15th at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin for the Austin Regional Rounds.
Prairie View A&M will travel to the west coast facing the University of California on November the 18th for the sub-regional rounds, which will be held at the CBU Events Center in Riverside, Calif., November 22-23. They will face Georgia State at 7 p.m. CT on the 22nd and will compete against the winner of Central Arkansas vs. CBU contest on the 23rd. The Panthers will close out the month of November with a game against the University of Texas San Antonio on November 30.
PVAMU will continue to play on the road in December when they face Arizona State on the 11th and face Loyola Marymount University on December 13th. They will close out non-conference play against Colorado on the 19th and Seton Hall on December 22nd before the Christmas Holidays. Right before the opening of SWAC play, the Panthers will host Huston Tillotson on December 30th at the William Nicks Baby dome.
The league schedule will begin in January with home-and-home series against all nine of the conference teams. The SWAC Tournament opens on March 10 and will conclude March 13-14 in Birmingham, Alabama at the Bartow Arena on the campus of UAB (University of Alabama Birmingham).
