Soccer Returns to Action Against Incarnate Word Friday

PRAIRIE VIEW  - The Prairie View A&M Lady Panthers are back in action for a Friday match at Incarnate Word in search of their first win of the season.

First touch is set for 5 p.m. at Benson Stadium. For Prairie View A&M (0-3), this will conclude a four-game road trip to begin the season as the Lady Panthers welcome Nicholls State for their home opener on Sunday.

This is the sixth all-time meeting between the teams, and Prairie View A&M has won three of the last four contests, including a 3-2 victory last season during which senior midfielder Gina Zavala De Rojas notched a goal and an assist.

Last Time Out:
- Prairie View A&M fell 3-0 to McNeese State on Sept. 1. Junior net-minder Alexis Espino was a bright spot for the Lady Panthers, making five saves during the second half of play and helping to shut down the Cowgirls' attack over the final frame of the match.

Scouting the Competition:
- UIW comes into Friday's contest with a 0-3 overall record. The Cardinals' last time out resulted in a 2-1 loss at Texas Southern on Sept. 1. 

- Keeley Ayana leads UIW with two goals scored on the season, having scored in back-to-back contests. Goalie Cailey Croson has notched 15 saves over the Cardinals' three matches this season. Both players received Southland Conference's Soccer Players of the Week Honorable Mention.
