BOX SCORE SAN ANTONIO – Despite a resilient first half of play, the Prairie View A&M soccer team dropped a 3-0 contest at Incarnate Word Friday evening at Benson Stadium.

Possession was the story of the match, as the Lady Panthers (0-4) were unable to curtail the Cardinals' offensive attack. In all Prairie View A&M was outshot 20-2 by Incarnate Word, who managed 15 tries on the net during the game.

Junior goalkeeper Alexis Espino was more than up to the task, eventually setting a career-high in saves with 12. Her previous high in stops was six.

Though the sides battled to a scoreless draw in the first half, the volume shooting of the Cardinals eventually paid dividends. In the 66th minute, Incarnate Word striker Keeley Ayana broke through for an unassisted goal to get the Cardinals on the board.  Incarnate added to the lead thanks to a Brooke Hanson scoring in the 79thminute, and Hanson found Ayana for the final mark of the game during the 89th minute.

Senior defender Alexis Mack and freshman outside back Randi Plair each had one shot for the Lady Panthers, Plair's try was a lone look on the goal. Freshman defender Andrea Nugent and senior midfielder Alex Fields each played all 90 minutes for the Lady Panthers.

Prairie View A&M won't have much time to dwell on the setback, as the team returns to the pitch Sunday afternoon for its home opener versus Nicholls State. First touch from the PVAMU Soccer Complex is set for 1 p.m.
