PRAIRIE VIEW – After reclaiming a share of the top spot in league standings, Prairie View A&M men's basketball welcomes Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Mississippi Valley State to the Hill for a pair of Southwestern Athletic Conference games.

The Panthers (8-10, 4-1 SWAC) face UAPB (3-14, 2-3 SWAC) on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. The following Monday, Prairie View A&M takes on the Delta Devils (1-16, 1-4 SWAC), with tip-off scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Both games will emanate from the Baby Dome.

The Panthers took care of Grambling State and Jackson State last weekend. Senior Gerard Andrus led the charge against Grambling State with 20 points and 10 rebounds, while fellow senior Darius Williams overwhelmed Jackson State for 27 points. Andrus leads the Panthers in scoring at 14.2 points per game while grabbing 5.4 boards per game. Senior Devonte Patterson is close behind with a 13.6 point-per-night average, and Williams has shined in his sixth man role, accounting for 12.6 points per game.

Prairie View A&M is tied for the conference's stingiest scoring defense, a stat that bodes well for the Panthers given that UAPB fields the lowest-ranked scoring output in the SWAC (52.9 PPG). The Delta Devils allow the most points on a nightly basis among SWAC teams at 92.8. Prairie View A&M is 4-1 in its last five games versus UAPB and has won six of its last seven contests versus Mississippi Valley State.

Scouting UAPB:
- The Golden Lions have the SWAC's fourth-ranked scoring defense (71.6 PPG allowed) and allow the third-fewest rebounds per game (34.0) among league teams. Additionally, UAPB ranks third in blocked shots per night (3.06).

- Forward Shaun Doss leads the team in scoring at 12.3 points per game but has not played since November 2019 due to injury. Since then, Markedric Bell has become UAPB's top offensive option, averaging 10.3 points per game and 5.3 boards per game. Bell is not long removed from a career-best 33-point effort that resulted in league player of the week honors.

Scouting MVSU:
- Despite a 1-4 record in league play Mississippi Valley has been competitive, with three losses by six points or less. Mississippi Valley State averages the third-fewest turnovers per game at 13.8 and is fourth in rebounding at 35.8 boards a night.

- The Delta Devils have what is the statistically the best offensive 1-2 punch in the league, as Michael Green (17.0 PPG) and Caleb Hunter (14.7 PPG) are the highest scoring duo in the SWAC. Green and Hunter rank second and fourth, respectively, in points per game.
