PRAIRIE VIEW – Prairie View A&M women's basketball will look to gain some ground in the league standings with a Southwestern Athletic Conference home-stand versus Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Mississippi Valley State.

Prairie View A&M (4-13, 1-4 SWAC) faces UAPB (3-12, 2-3 SWAC) Saturday at 3 p.m., and the Panthers take on the Devilettes (1-15, 0-5 SWAC) Monday at 5:30 p.m. Both games emanate from the Baby Dome.

The Panthers picked up their first conference win with a 67-54 triumph over Grambling State, but was nipped by Jackson State this past Monday. Senior Ke'Asia Williams was a rebound shy of a double-double with 16 points and nine rebounds versus Grambling State, and senior Bernesha Peters also scored 16 points. Graduate transfer Tatyana Perez impressed against Jackson State to the tune of 14 points and six assists. Peters continues to lead the team in scoring at 10.5 points per game.

With Prairie View A&M looking to get its offense on track, the upcoming matchups may be just what the doctor ordered as UAPB and Mississippi Valley State each rank in the bottom third of conference standings in points allowed per game.

The Panthers are riding five-game winning streaks against both of their opponents this weekend. Prairie View A&M has defeated UAPB by double-digits in four straight games, and the Panthers have posted three blowout wins over the Devilettes in the past five meetings.

Scouting UAPB:
- UAPB has made opponents pay when it comes to takeaways, averaging 10.1 steals per game, fourth-best in the SWAC.

- Guard Kyeonia Harris leads the team at 10.5 points per game and better than three assists per game. Fellow backcourt mate Jayla Atmore puts up 9.6 points per night along with 4.2 boards per game. Both players average 2.0 steals a game.

Scouting MVSU:
- The Devilettes are currently mired in a nine-game skid, but statistically are the best three-point shooting team in the conference at 31.9 percent. Mississippi Valley State is also one of the better board-crashing units in the SWAC, as their 24 defensive rebounds per game ranks fourth in the league.

- Guard Ayonna Cotten leads the Devilettes at 11.1 points per game and is shooting nearly 40 percent from deep. Erin Smith (8.3 PPG) joins Cotton as one of the top sharp-shooters in the league, making 36.1 percent of her three-point tries. Both players have higher shooting percentages from three-point land than their overall shooting marks.
