ARLINGTON — Ranked #25 Prairie View A&M bowling team ended day one of the Prairie View A&M Invitational at the IRTC, in 11th place.
"This was a very tough day of competition," said head PVAMU bowling coach
Glenn White. But I'm proud of the team and how they continued to battle throughout the day. We knew coming in that we were up against the top in the country. We lost some close matches today and we should be better as we continue to compete the rest of the weekend."
The team struggled going 0-5 against top ranked teams.
The Lady Panthers began with a 919-894 loss against the 18
th ranked Wisconsin - Whitewater. Next, the team fell 934-888 to St. Francis, and followed with a close 957-939 loss against the 3
rd ranked Nebraska.
Prairie View dropped their match against 5
th ranked Vanderbilt University 978-907. The team closed out the day with a tough 1,042-843 defeat by 6
th ranked Maryland - Eastern Shore.
Prairie View knocked down a total of 4,501 pins and averaged an even 180.0 per game.
Next, the Lady Panthers will continue the tournament on Saturday, Feb. 1 in Arlington. The day will open with traditional play against top ranked McKendree (1
st).
