BOX SCORE LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Prairie View A&M men's basketball team closed out day three of the Louisville event with an 86-64 loss to the Louisville Cardinals on Sunday.
Sophomore Jeremiah Gambrell, Jr. posted a season high 20 points after going 7-12 from the field, while junior Jerroda Briscoe contributed with nine points.
The Panthers came out hot in the first half, with Gambrell leading the team to a quick 11-4 lead over the Cardinals. PVAMU maintained their fast start keeping a short lead, but still struggled to keep up on the defensive end. They fell behind by 10 late in the half and went into the break, down 41-31.
The team struggled to contain the Louisville's offense in the second half, while also trying to work themselves out of a slow offensive slump that landed them in a 20-point deficit. Junior Dajour Joseph was key in getting Prairie View A&M's offense moving, but the team wasn't able to complete the comeback mission, eventually falling 86-64.
Prairie View shot 39.3 percent from the field and 55 percent from the line.
Next up, for the Panthers as they continue the University of Louisville hosted event will be a matchup against North Carolina at Greensboro on Tuesday, Dec. 1 for a 3 p.m. tip-off.
