Mack shines in Panther debut at Washington State

12/21/2020 10:16:00 PM

BOX SCORE PULLMAN, Wash. – Cam Mack posted a double-double in his season debut, but it wasn't enough as a short-handed Prairie View A&M men's basketball team (1-3) dropped a 90-62 contest Monday evening at Beasley Coliseum.

How it Happened:
Despite a quick start from Damari Parris, the Panthers found themselves behind thanks to the Cougars' early hot shooting from beyond the arc. Following a three-point play from Jawaun Daniels that brought Prairie View A&M within four with 12:13 left in the first half, Washington State used the long ball to power a 17-6 run that left the Panthers trailing 34-19 with 6:55 remaining before intermission.

With 3:55 left in the half and the Panthers trailing by 16, Parris sparked an 8-2 run to draw Prairie View A&M within 10. However, Washington State scored seven unanswered points to take a 47-30 advantage into half. The Panthers were unable to get within striking distance through the remainder of the game.

Top Performances:
Parris led the Panthers with 15 points, eight boards and a pair of steals. Mack scored 14 points and dished out 10 assists along with three steals and a block. Daniels scored 11 points. Jerroda Briscoe chipped in eight points and swatted three shots.

Efe Abogidi scored 16 to lead the Cougars, who had five players in double figures.

Next Up:
Prairie View A&M has concluded the non-conference portion of its slate and returns to action Jan. 2 at Alcorn State to begin Southwestern Athletic Conference play.
