Scouting the Opposition:
- Baylor (3-2) opened the season by shutting out Auburn and topping Louisville before a pair of defeats preceded a mid-week win over Abilene Christian. Taylor Ellis is hitting .500 with six RBI for the Bears, and in the circle Sidney Holman-Mansell and Gia Rodoni have posted sub-2.50 ERAs so far in the season.
- Offensively, Kellie Marcheschi leads Western Illinois (1-5) with a .375 batting average. Abby Carlin and Savannah Rodriguez are a solid duo in the circle for WIU, having combined for 21 strikeouts. Carlin leads the team with a 1.24 ERA.
- Mickey Covarrubio leads Grand Canyon (1-5) with a .438 batting average, while Olivia Zufelt looks like the biggest bat in the GCU lineup after smacking a pair of homers on opening weekend. Yessie Morrison (3.0 ERA) and Ryan Denhart, the latter of whom leads Grand Canyon with 12 strikeouts, help anchor a solid pitching staff.
