PRAIRIE VIEW – Prairie View A&M women's basketball looks to stay on track in a pair of Southwestern Athletic Conference games versus Grambling State and Jackson State.

Prairie View A&M (8-14, 5-5 SWAC) faces Grambling State (3-19, 2-9 SWAC) on Saturday at 3 p.m. From there, the Panthers host Jackson State (13-8, 11-0 SWAC) on Monday, with tip-off set for 5:30 p.m. Both contests emanate from the Baby Dome.

The Panthers outlasted arch-rival Texas Southern 50-47 in their last outing. Senior Bernesha Peters and Freshman Kennedy Paul led the way over Texas Southern, each scoring 10 points. Peters continues to lead the team in scoring at 10.3 points per game.

Prairie View A&M snapped a five-game skid versus Grambling State with a 67-54 win in the teams' earlier meeting this season, but looks to reverse a two-game skid versus Jackson State.

Panthers News and Notes:
- After starting 0-3 in league play, the Panthers have righted the ship somewhat, having won five of their past seven games. The defensive effort has been impressive over that span, as Prairie View A&M has conceded just 52.1 points per game in those contests.

- The Panthers' second-ranked rebounding defense will be tested by Jackson State, who comes into the game as the No. 1 ranked rebounding unit in the SWAC.
 – Prairie View A&M has been feisty when it comes to forcing turnovers, as opponents commit 21.3 giveaways per game against them, third-most among league teams. The Panthers also average the third-most steals per game at 10.36.

Scouting Grambling State:
- - Grambling State recently snapped a nine-game skid with a 70-59 win over Alcorn State.

- Limiting fouls will be key for Prairie View A&M, as Grambling State is by far the best free-throw shooting team in league, converting on better than 72 percent of its tries from the line. No other team in the SWAC is shooting at 70 percent from the charity stripe.

- Justice Coleman continues to be the brightest spot for Grambling, as she stands fourth in the league in scoring at 14.1 points per game. She's also the Ironwoman of the conference, leading the league in minutes per game at 34.5.

Scouting Jackson State:
- Jackson State enters the weekend on a 12-game winning streak and continues to hold court atop leading standings with an unblemished record entering the second half of league play.

- The No. 2 scoring offense in the league (65.7 PPG), Jackson State also leads the conference in rebounding (43.7 per game), field-goal percentage defense (37.0 percent) and blocked shots (4.71 per game).

- Marneisha Hamer leads the way for Jackson State, averaging 13.3 points and 6.2 rebounds per night. Dayzsha Rogan is another strong offensive option for the team at 12.4 points per game, and Ameysha Williams patrols the inside, averaging 10.5 points, 8.9 rebounds and 2.6 blocks per game, the latter tops among SWAC players. Kaisah Lucky makes it all go for the team, averaging nearly seven points and five assists.
