<strong>PRAIRIE VIEW —</strong> Despite a trying fourth quarter, the Prairie View A&M women's basketball team managed to fight off Grambling State University for a 65-58 Southwestern Athletic Conference win on Saturday.<br />
<br />
"I want to congratulate our ladies," Assistant Coach
Sean LeBeauf said. "Thank goodness they were able to withstand that run by Grambling. We did a very good job sharing the basketball and we had 22 assists on 25 field goals, which is excellent. We had two kids step up in the absence of
Bernesha Peters, and we did a better job of taking care of the basketball."<br />

The Panthers (9-14, 6-5 SWAC) carried a 10-point lead into the start of the fourth quarter, but a 13-3 Grambling (3-20, 2-10 SWAC) run tied the score at 54 with 6:10 left. The Tigers eventually got a 58-57 lead with 4:10 left, but senior
Ke'Asia Williams knocked down a pair of free throws to put Prairie View A&M for good as late free throws ultimately keyed a 7-0 Panthers run to close the game.<br />

Hot-shooting, particularly from deep laid the foundation for a strong start for the Panthers, who outscored Grambling 20-10 in the frame thanks to an 8-for-8 clip from the field. Freshman
Diana Rosenthal and senior
Mariah Campbell led the way with six points each in the second, giving the Panthers a 33-20 advantage going into halftime.<br />

Prairie View A&M led by as many as 18 points before surviving a gut-check in the fourth.<br />
