BOX SCORE PRAIRIE VIEW — The Prairie View A&M women's basketball team is the "1" in 12-1.
The Panthers took down Jackson State 62-52 Monday night in the Baby Dome to hand the Lady Tigers their first loss in Southwestern Athletic Conference play. The win not only pushes the Panthers' streak to three, but it snaps Jackson State's 13-game winning streak.
Following a competitive first half, the Panthers (10-14, 7-5 SWAC) separated from Jackson State in the third quarter, before a few clutch foul shooting late secured the win.

Diana Rosenthal keeping the Panthers in it during the first half, the teams were tied 22-22 heading into halftime, but a burst of offensive energy soon put Prairie View A&M in control of the third quarter. A quick 6-1 run led by freshman
Kennedy Paul gave the Panthers their first substantial lead of the game at 28-23. The team went on to outscore the Lady Tigers (14-9, 12-1 SWAC) 17-13 and went into the fourth quarter leading 39-35.
Another quick run to start the fourth quarter pushed the Panthers ahead 45-37 at the 7:26 mark. Back-to-back three pointers from grad transfer

Dominique Newman then opened up a 10-point lead with 6:38 left to play.
Aside from free throws, a solid defensive effort from the Panthers held the Lady Tigers to only four points in the paint during the final six minutes of the game. Nine of Prairie View A&M's 11 final points came from clutch shots at the foul line.
Rosenthal went 5-of-6 from the field, posting 13 points, three rebounds and two assists. Senior
Bernesha Peters had 13 points on the night, with three rebounds, two steals and one assist. Newman went 6-of-6 from the foul line, contributing 11 points, five rebounds and four steals.
