Softball returns to action at Abilene Christian

PRAIRIE VIEW – After a week-long layoff, Prairie View A&M softball (3-7) returns to the diamond for a Tuesday double-header at Abilene Christian. First pitch for game one is set for 3 p.m., with the second contest scheduled for 5 p.m.

The Lady Panthers are coming off a solid performance at the Baylor-hosted Getterman Classic, where they finished runner-up in the tournament. Seniors Cameron Lavergne and Gabrielle Foncesa earned all-tournament honors.

Led by senior Daneisha Hinton (.381), PVAMU has four players hitting .320 or better on the season. Foncesa has driven in a team-best eight runs along with a PVAMU-leading three doubles, and senior Alyssa Garcia leads the team with nine hits. Junior Alexis Freeman has scored a team-high nine runs.

In the circle, junior Kara Fucci leads the team with a 4.31 ERA, and senior Crystal Castillo has struck out 11 batters with two complete games on the season.

Prairie View A&M is 1-9 all-time against the Wildcats.

Scouting the Wildcats:
– Abiliene Christian enters the contest with a 5-9 record. The Wildcats' offense has been cooking as of late, having scored 21 runs over the past two games. ACU has five players with 10 or more hits on the season.

– Lacy Johnson leads the team with a .345 batting average, while Blair Clayton and Samantha Bradley have combined for five home runs and 17 RBI.

- In the circle, a name to watch is Alivia Sinnott, who threw a no-hitter in her last start (versus Mississippi Valley State). Bradley leads the team with a 3.24 ERA.
