BOX SCORE 2 ABILENE, Texas - The Prairie View A&M softball team dropped both sides of a doubleheader against Abilene Christian on Tuesday evening. The Lady Panthers (3-9) fell in extra innings during game one and were unable to overcome an early deficit in game two.

Game 1: ACU 9, PVAMU 8 (F/9)
The Lady Panthers fell behind 2-0 in the first inning, before senior
Gabrielle Fonseca's first homer of the season opened up the offense in the third. Two back-to-back RBI base hits from sophomore
Ryleigh Love and junior
Alexis Freeman pushed the score to 3-2 heading into the third inning.

Prairie View A&M looked set to run away with it following a four-run fourth inning that made the game 8-4, but the Wildcats tied it with a two-out grand slam to force extra innings. The Lady Panthers' offense fell flat in the eighth and ninth innings and a defensive miscue allowed Abilene Christian to score the game-winning run.

Diavionne Dewalt went 2-for-3 and posted two runs. Freeman went 3-for-5 at bat with two RBI. Junior
Kara Fucci (1-2) took the loss and allowed one hit through one inning.

Game 2: ACU 13, PVAMU 1
The Lady Panthers fell behind quickly as Abilene Christian tacked on nine runs in the first inning, a deficit that PVAMU was unable to recover from.

The Lady Panthers' lone run of the game came in the fourth inning off of a single to left field from senior
Alyssa Garcia that scored sophomore
Jeah Williams.

Garcia was the brightest spot for the Lady Panthers in the nightcap, going 3-for-3.

Next Up:
The Lady Panthers will compete in the HBCU Softball Tournament beginning on Saturday, March 7. The team is set to face North Alabama at 1 p.m and Jackson State at 5 p.m. in New Orleans.
