Josiah Represents National Team in CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying Match

EDINBURG, Texas – It's not every day that a collegian earns the opportunity to start on a global stage.

But for Prairie View A&M goalkeeper Quinn Josiah, that day was today.

The sophomore took the field for her national team Saint Kitts and Nevis, starting in goal during a Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) Olympic Qualifying match versus Jamaica.

Despite being under heavy duress by the Jamaica offensive attack, Josiah was up to the challenge, making nine saves during the contest.

For the Lady Panthers netminder, it represents yet another feather in the cap for what has been a banner 2019-20 campaign on the pitch. Josiah turned away 83 shots during Prairie View A&M's run to the Southwestern Athletic Conference soccer tournament championship, figuring in on an impressive 10 shutouts.

She allowed just 10 goals in league play, including a run of six straight clean sheets against SWAC foes to end the season.  For her efforts, Josiah was named Second Team All-SWAC.

While this CONCACAF experience is one Josiah surely won't forget, it's also a sign of where Prairie View A&M soccer stands as it looks toward the future.

After all, it's not every day that the Lady Panthers have a player represent them on a national stage during international competition. And though this may be the first day for such an occasion, perhaps it won't be the last.
