BOX SCORE 1 |
BOX SCORE 2 LAKE CHARLES, La. – The Prairie View A&M softball team (1-3) dropped a pair of contests in the McNeese State-hosted Cowgirl Classic, falling 16-9 in a slugfest versus Ball State and dropping a TBA game versus McNeese in the nightcap.
Ball State 16, PVAMU 9
The Lady Panthers fell behind early on, allowing four runs in each of the first two innings. Facing a 13-0 deficit, the Panthers made a valiant charge as senior
Daneisha Hinton started the rally with a two-run double to centerfield, and senior
Alyssa Garcia followed with a RBI base hit.
Ultimately, the Lady Panthers tattooed the Cardinals for nine runs in the frame to get within four, but Ball State added three runs and the ensuing deficit was too much to overcome.
Hinton went 3-for-3 in the game.
McNeese 10, PVAMU 1
After a 1-2-3 first inning, Prairie View A&M jumped on the Cowgirls early with a RBI single by Garcia that scored junior
Alexis Freeman.
From that point, however, the Lady Panthers weren't able to build on their early advantage as McNeese used a five-run fourth inning to help create an ultimately insurmountable lead.
Garcia and Freeman had one hit for the Lady Panthers in the game.
