Feel Good Friday: PVAMU vs. Southern, 2009

5/1/2020 12:43:00 PM

PRAIRIE VIEW - As part of PVPanthers.com "Feel Good Friday" series, we will share some of the top victories in Prairie View A&M Athletics history. Today we look back on one of the gutsiest victories in Panther football lore, as we share one of the team's marquee wins from the 2009 campaign: a 16-14 win over Southern at A.W. Mumford Stadium in Baton Rouge, La.

All-SWAC running back Donald Babers was a force for the Panthers, accounting for 173 total yards and a pair of touchdowns, including the eventual game-winner with 8:05 remaining in the game. From there, the Panthers' defense did the rest, with Chris Adingupu forcing a pivotal fumble to put an end to Southern's final drive with 18 ticks left, ensuring that the Panthers remained unbeaten in SWAC play on their march toward that season's Southwestern Athletic Conference Championship.
