PRAIRIE VIEW – The Prairie View A&M soccer team continues its exciting win streak, remaining undefeated in conference play at 8-0 earning Southwestern Athletic Regular Season Champions Title, with 4-1 win over Alcorn State Sunday at the PVAMU Soccer Complex.
Two goals in each half and another stellar defensive effort helped pave the way for the Lady Panther soccer team in it's second to last match of the regular season.
How it Happened:
Junior
Megan Howell's kick-started the offensive action with a goal in the 5
th minute for the Mississauga, Ontario Canada natives first goal of the season.
With less than a minute left to go in the first half
Zanyece Harris-Wright scored her first goal of the season to push the score 2-0 at the 44
th minute.
Reagan Scott started the scoring strike after smacking a kick that found Jojo Bernal for her fifth goal of the season inside the box at the 74
th minute. Later Howell powered in another goal in the back of the next for her second goal of the season at the 79
th minute.
Andrea Nugent earned the assist.
Post-Game Note
- PVAMU took 20 shots; eight on goal
- 11 different players took shots
- Bernal scored her fifth goal of the season
- The team remains undefeated in conference play with an 8-0 record; by-passing their previous 2019 win streak seven prior to the Southwestern Athletic Conference Championship Tournament.
Prairie View A&M will return to action when they host Texas Southern for their final regular season contest on Friday, October 29 for a 7 p.m. kick at the PVAMU Soccer Field in honor of Breast Cancer survivors.
