PRAIRIE VIEW – The Prairie View A&M football team had four players to be selected for the All-Southwestern Athletic Conference teams announced by the league conference office Monday.

Defensively, lineman Jason Dumas has was named to the All-SWAC first team along with junior DB Drake Cheatum.  Dumas, the Vacherie, La. native is a force to be reckoned with, he's made 34 tackles – 13.0 behind the line of scrimmage – and 7.5 sacks on the season.  To include 14 QB Hurry's and three forced fumbles.  Dumas is fourth in the conference with tackles for loss.   He has received All-SWAC honors three consecutive years.

Cheatum had a career season as a Panther as he leads an ultra-productive secondary having a pick-six and a season/career high picking off five passes (ranking him 7th in the nation), while defending four more.  He leads the team on the defense after playing in 11 contest with a total of 82 stops (42 solo, 40 assisted) ranking him 5th in the conference.  Posting 5.0-15 tackles for loss.  Cheatum has earned first team All-SWAC honors for the second straight year.

Two more Panthers were named to the second team lead by offensive lineman graduate student Danny Garza.  Garza, is a three time All-SWAC lineman, who has assisted the Panthers in earning 4,135 offensive yards this season.  He continues to be a steady presence up front for the Panthers, he has helped fortify an offensive line that allowed the Southwestern Athletic Conference's No. 4 ranked passing attack to flourish.  He also has anchored an offensive line that allowed the fewest sacks among league teams.

The Marrero, La. native Darius Campbell is one of the most active Panthers ranking him among the nation's best pass defenders and is ranked fourth in the SWAC with 14.  He is one of the Panthers top cover men ranking third on the team with 54 stops (29 solo, 25 assisted).

The Panthers will return to action as the Western Division Champions in the 2021 Cricket SWAC Football Championship Presented by Pepsi Zero Sugar on December 4 for a 3 p.m. kick at the Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium in Jackson, Miss.
