PRAIRIE VIEW – The 2021-22 season has arrived for the Prairie View A&M men's basketball team as they tip off Tuesday, November 9 versus Saint Mary's inside the University Credit Union Pavilion in Moraga, Calif. for a 9 p.m. CT tip.
The Gaels holds the overall 1-0 series against the Panthers with the last meeting in November of 2016.
The Panthers were unbeaten during the 2020-21 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference play with a 13-0 record winning the regular season title. They ultimately lost the SWAC Tournament championship to Texas Southern 80-61, losing out on an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.
The Panthers will have a group of eight returners from last year's team, including SWAC Preseason Player of the Year pick Juwan Daniels, who led the team in scoring (15.4 points/game), a mark that was sixth amongst all SWAC players. He also ranked ninth in rebounds per game with 6.1, second in field percentage (.541), and eighth in three-point field goals per game (1.7). Also back is forward
Jerroda Briscoe, who averaged 3.8 and 2.8 rebounds/game, and
DeWayne Cox, who averaged 7.3 points and 4.5 rebounds per contest.
Tuesday's game will be streamed live on the WCC Network. Fans can pick up the game on TuneIn Radio, that will require payment for a subscription to access to the basketball audio broadcasts.
