ITTA BENA, Miss. – The Prairie View A&M volleyball team (5-1, 4-1 SWAC) got back on the winner's side of things in resounding fashion, sweeping Mississippi Valley State (0-3, 0-3 SWAC) in Southwestern Athletic Conference action Monday night at the R.W. Harrison HPER Complex. Set scores were 25-7, 25-8, 25-10.
How it Happened:
With the Devilettes misfiring on offense, the Lady Panthers built a 10-2 lead to open the match, later using slick serving from Miriam Cardoner to push ahead 21-5 before back-to-back kills by Malia Viernes and Victoria Pearson sealed set one. It was more of the same in set two, with the two-way play of Autumn Dowell and Thaynara Godoi powering a 15-4 run to begin the frame.
After cruising through the second set behind the serving of Skyla Childs and Melanie Arenas, Viernes asserted herself in the early goings of set three. The freshman put away multiple spikes as the Lady Panthers used a 13-3 start as a springboard to victory.
Key Stats:
Viernes led with seven kills. Cardoner dished out 12 assists to go with a pair of service aces and a pair of digs. Arenas led with 12 digs to go with three kills.

Prairie View A&M returns to the court Wednesday evening for a home date with Tarleton State. Start time is set for 5:30 p.m. from the Baby Dome.
