PRAIRIE VIEW – The Prairie View A&M soccer team opens Southwestern Athletic Conference play this weekend with road trips to Grambling State and Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

The Panthers face Grambling State Friday at 3 p.m. and take on UAPB at 1 p.m. Sunday.

PVAMU News and Notes:
- PVAMU is coming off a three-week hiatus and looks to bounce back from a 2-1 loss to Incarnate Word on February 5.

- Dating back to 2011, PVAMU is 7-1-1 all-time versus Grambling State and has won six of their last eight meetings versus UAPB. However, the Panthers have not won at Pine Bluff since 2014 (0-2 since). 

- Lauren Hermosa has accounted for the lone PVAMU goal this season. Alexis Espino leads the team in saves with seven.

Scouting the Opponents:
- Grambling State is 0-1 on the season after faltering during a 2-0 loss to Louisiana-Monroe. The Tigers were predicted to finish second in preseason league polls behind PVAMU. Kailey Pena (six goals, four assists in 2019) is the top offensive weapon to watch, along with fellow preseason All-SWAC honorees Miranda Urbizu (three goals, three assists in 2019).

- UAPB is 2-0 on the season and has outscored opponents 11-1 in those games. Tobi McCoy is off to a blistering start with five goals and an assist in the Lady Lions' first two contests, while Cameron Rodriguez and Evangelia Sandoval-Belmudez have each scored twice. In net, the Panthers will look to get past Kimberly Moss, who has made six saves this season.
