BOX SCORE GRAMBLING, La. – The Prairie View A&M soccer team (1-1, 1-0 SWAC) opened Southwestern Athletic Conference play with a thrilling 3-2 double overtime win over Grambling State (0-2, 0-1 SWAC) Friday afternoon at the GSU Soccer Complex.
How it Happened:
The Panthers got on the board early in the first half when
Jaiden Morgan found the twine for her first collegiate goal. After Grambling tied the game at the 21
st minute via penalty kick, the Panthers fell behind in the 50
th minute as Lady Tigers striker Kailey Pena scored her second goal of the day.
Not long after,
Kalia Brown knotted the game for the Panthers. Prairie View A&M had a chance to win in the final minutes but was unable to convert a penalty kick, forcing extra time.
After neither side got much done in the first overtime,
D'Sanye Nugent was the heroine for the Panthers, putting a strike home in the final moments of double overtime.
