PRAIRIE VIEW – The Prairie View A&M women's basketball team (3-12, 2-10 SWAC) fell 70-39 to Southern (10-10, 10-4 SWAC) Thursday evening during Southwestern Athletic Conference play at the Baby Dome.
How it Happened:
The Panthers were slow out of the gate offensive, missing seven of their first eight shots as the Jaguars pulled ahead early. With Prairie View A&M unable to get on track, Southern pushed its advantage to as many as 24 in the first half.
Down 39-19 at the break, the Panthers fell into an even larger deficit as Southern opened the third quarter with a 9-2 run. Down the stretch, Prairie View was unable to close the gap.
Key Stats:
Kennedy Paul led the Panthers with 13 points and six rebounds.
Kennedi Heard and
Rachel Williams added six points each. Genovea Johnson scored 15 points to lead Southern.
