PVAMU looks to keep rolling against Houston Baptist

PRAIRIE VIEW – The Prairie View A&M softball team looks to avenge a pair of early-season defeats when the Lady Panthers (10-10) host Houston Baptist Tuesday afternoon in non-conference action.

PVAMU News and Notes:
- PVAMU head coach Vernon Bland is five wins away from becoming the program's all-timer leader in coaching victories.

- Kimberly Hernandez and Briana Grays are putting together stout campaigns offensively, as both are hitting above .400. Hernandez leads the team with a .417 batting average and seven extra-base hits.  

- Alyssa Garcia (13) and Maddison Parker (10) rank among the SWAC's top five in terms of league leaders in RBIs.

Scouting Houston Baptist:
- HBU (14-10) comes into the week after a 3-0 sweep of UIW last weekend. In the pre-season matchup against the Panthers, the Huskies scored 23 runs.

- The Huskies have five players hitting above .300, led by Heidi Jaquez (.382 BA, 7 2B, 11 RBI). HBU boasts an impressive pitching corps, led by Lyndie Swanson (1.24 ERA, 5-0 W/L) – an impressive hitter in her own right as evidenced by a .429 batting average – and team workhorse Jessica Patak (5-7 W/L, 3.02 ERA).
