PINE BLUFF, Ark. – Mya Hall posted a career-best outing as the Prairie View A&M softball team topped Arkansas-Pine Bluff 9-2 Friday afternoon in a Southwestern Athletic Conference game at the Torii Hunter Softball Complex.
How it Happened:
Alyssa Garcia got it started for Prairie View A&M, delivering a RBI single to score
Ryleigh Love – who led off with a walk before stealing second – for the game's first run. After a walk and a
Kimberly Hernandez single loaded the bases, Garcia scored on a wild pitch.
PVAMU was gifted another run in the second inning as
Brianna Grays scored on a passed ball and Garcia delivered a RBI sacrifice fly to score Love.
After adding two more runs in the fourth inning, the Lady Panthers had all the run support Hall would need. The sophomore carried a no-hitter into the fifth inning, where UAPB managed a pair of hits and one run. Despite the Lady Lions scratching another run across in the sixth, Hall ensured there would be nothing else. In the seventh, Prairie View A&M added insurance runs in the seventh thanks to a two-run single by
Bianca Cruz and a RBI double by Natalie McLennan. Hall retired the side to close out the win.
Key Stats:
- Hall struck out a career-high 11 hitters during the complete game effort, allowing three hits and two runs.
- McLennan led the Panthers with a 3-for-4 effort. Hernandez picked up a pair of hits, while Grays and Love each scored two runs and stole a pair of bases. Garcia accounted for three RBI.
