HOUSTON – Jenesis Vasquez's game-winning strike at the 83rd minute was the difference for Prairie View A&M soccer as the Lady Panthers downed Texas Southern 2-1 in their regular season finale at Durley Stadium.

How it Happened:
Though both sides were aggressive to begin, the Lady Panthers unleashed a barrage of tries on goal, outshooting Texas Southern 9-4 over the first 18 minutes of play. Andrea Nugent found the twine to put Prairie View A&M on the board at the 18:38 mark.

The Lady Panthers continued to place Texas Southern goalie Oriana Palacios under duress, but the Lady Tigers would knot things up as a Sammie Garcia header got past PVAMU goalie Quinn Josiah in the 38th minute.

Though Prairie View A&M was unable to cash in on numerous penalty kicks in the second half, the Panthers' continued its war of attrition on goal, outshooting Texas Southern 15-3 in the second half. After a try from D'Sanye Nugent was blocked, Vasquez was in place to deliver the game-winner after rebounding the ball into the net. Josiah turned away a header attempt as time expired to preserve the win.

Key Stats:
Josiah made seven saves, while Palacios made 13 saves. The win moves PVAMU to 5-2 in Southwestern Athletic Conference play, moving them to the No. 3 seed in the upcoming conference tournament.
