PRAIRIE VIEW – A walk-off two-run blast from Maddison Parker was the difference for the Prairie View A&M softball team (8-9), who took down Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 5-3 Tuesday afternoon at the PVAMU Softball Field.
The win is the 150th for PVAMU head softball coach Vernon Bland, who is second all-time in program history in career wins.
How it Happened:
Down 3-0 entering the sixth inning, Kaila Lee got the rally started with a one-out double to left center. After Parker singled, Kyra Lunford ripped a double through the infield that scored Lee. Jayla Richard followed with a RBI single to cut the Islanders' lead to one.
After Deja Tapia posted a scoreless seventh, Kimberly Hernandez hit a one-out single before Brianna Grays came on as pinch runner. After Grays stole third and Alyssa Garcia delivered the game-tying RBI single, Parker turned on an Audrey McNeill pitch, sending it over the right field wall for the win.
Key Stats:
- Parker and Lee each had two hits. Tapia got the win, and Jerrica Rojas worked an effective 3.0 innings, allowing a pair of hits and one earned run.
- Bland is seven wins away from becoming the program's all-time leader in wins as head coach.

PVAMU hosts Texas Southern this weekend. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. Friday from the PVAMU Softball Field.
