PRAIRIE VIEW - The Prairie View A&M Department of Athletics recognized student-athletes, support staff, and spirit teams with its 2020-2021 athletics awards.

Tasked with navigating an atypical and ever-changing season of competition, this year's honorees exemplified dedication and impressive resiliency throughout the year.

Seven Panther student-athletes were honored with special awards. The male and female recipient of the President's Award, which serves to honor the senior athletes with the highest GPA were Miriam Cardoner (volleyball) and Jaylen Harris (football). Cardoner held a 3.91 GPA as a psychology major, and Harris maintained a GPA of 3.91 as a graduate student majoring in educational administration..
Quinn Josiah (women's soccer) and Storey Jackson (football) each received the I.T. Hunter Award, which goes to the most outstanding female and male athlete. Jackson garnered several accolades as one of the Southwestern Athletic Conference's leading defensive players.
Tennis standout Jorge Juarez Caballero was honored with the C.A. Thomas Spirit Team Award, which is given to the most spirited athlete.

Football's Antonio Mullins and two-time All-American high jumper Ja'Sha Sloan received the G.E. Higgs Awards, which recognizes the male and female athletes that best embody leadership on and off the field of play.Â
