PRAIRIE VIEW – Friday marks the end of pre-season training and the start of the 2021 fall season play for the Prairie View A&M soccer squad.
The Lady Panthers leave today for a single road match up against non-conference opponent University of Louisiana at Lafayette prior to their home opener Sunday at 1 p.m. against Texas State.
"I am excited about getting back to playing," said head soccer coach
Sonia Curvelo. "We have only been practicing for a little under two weeks and I think we have come a long way with the work that we have done on both sides of the ball from defending and attacking. It's very exciting where we are right now going into an away game. We just need to play right now to challenge us, to improve us and to get better. We are as prepared as we can be for only having two weeks of practice."
The Lady Panthers has not played in a game since April 8 during the spring 2021 SWAC Tournament when they fell to Southern 1-0. The Ragin Cajuns however, have played an exhibition game drawing against McNesse (1-1) last Friday. ULL finished their 2021 spring season 10-9-1 overall and 4-3-1 in conference play.
The game is set to be shown live on ESPN+ as well as fans can follow along via live stats. All can be found on pvpanthers.com game day central.
The PVAMU squad will return to campus to host Texas State on Sunday, August 22 for a Welcome Back game set for 1 p.m. a kick at the PVAMU Soccer Field.
