PRAIRIE VIEW – With preseason camp coming close to an end the Panthers offense speaks for itself as they came up with big offensive plays Saturday night during their second scrimmage.

"I feel we got off to a slow start offensively," said head football coach Eric Dooley.  "We were kind of sluggish out there and the defense was playing fast and physical.  But once we got into rhythm we started moving the ball really well.  I think all went well tonight.  I am just glad we didn't have any major injuries."

The team went through nearly two and half hours of work on Blackshear Field, running over 90 plays from scrimmage plus a few kickoff and punt plays.  The offense, running behind the four different quarterbacks moved up-and down the field.  Although the game seemed a little lopsided,  defense was able to score on a fumble return.

The defense had some big plays, but it was the offense that was really impressive having performances from several key and new faces.

With a short spring season Dooley emphasis on being physical and fast on both sides of the ball.  Depth has played a big role in Dooley's game plan.

"Being physical and fast is something we have stressed in practice and those are some of the things we saw here today.  Although we didn't get a full season last spring, I see where it's all coming together because of the depth."

The Panthers will return to practice on Monday, August 23 as it is the first day of school for PVAMU.

Prairie View A&M has less than two weeks to finish preparing for the annual Labor Day Classic against the Tigers of Texas Southern.  Game time is set for 7 p.m. at the BBVA Stadium, Saturday, September 4.
