BEAUMONT, Texas - The Prairie View A&M volleyball team absorbed two losses on the opening day of the 2021 season and the Katrinka Crawford Invitational hosted by Lamar.

Game 1

PVAMU started the day with a 3-0 loss to host team the Lamar Cardinals by the scores of 25-14, 25-21, 25-12.

Sophomore outside hitter
Malia Viernes led the Lady Panthers on the offensive side of the net as she posted six kills. Freshman setter
Alaiyah Fields handed out 10 assists in her debut as a Lady Panther, freshman middle blocker
Kiersten Atkinson recorded five blocks (2 solo, 3 assisted) of PVAMU's 13 total blocks to pace PVAMU on the defensive end. Junior libero
Skyla Childs scooped nine digs as well.

Game 2
The Lady Panthers finished the day as they fell to the University of La. Monroe 3-0 by the scores of 25-24, 25-17, 25-15.

Freshman outside hitter
Tiffiney Booe led the Lady Panthers in kills with nine, while junior setter
Jakarta Hope recorded a season high of 12 assists. Childs added 12 digs to her nine she captured in game one.Â

Prairie View's next action comes against Oral Roberts at 10 a.m. on the closing day of the Katrinka Crawford Invitational.
